Legal consequences of the climate crisis
This course is crucial in the current context, where the impact of the climate emergency is undeniably global.
The main objective of this activity is to conceptualize the phenomenon and highlight the differentiated responsibility of States from a human rights perspective. Based on this, we will address issues related to food security, migration and forced displacement, the differentiated impact on vulnerable groups, and the resulting increase in inequalities.
Conceptual contents: The climate emergency and the exercise of global power. Scientific foundations to characterize the phenomenon. Differentiated obligations of States. Consequences from a human rights perspective. The right to information, consultation, and participation. Climate litigation and environmental defenders.
Format and duration: Asynchronous course with tutoring. This course runs for 10 weeks.
